About RAMS

Home

Race Against  Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS) was  founded in 1985 by a group of  Multiple  Sclerosis (MS)  sufferers  and  their  carers. Concerned at the lack of  help available to those with MS,  RAMS  Therapy  Centre   was  established   in  Dunmurry, Belfast,  Northern   Ireland  specifically   to  provide   hyperbaric oxygen therapy and offer support to sufferers  and  carers.  Over the succeeding years RAMS Therapy Centre has extended their programme  of  treatment  to  include a more holistic approach to the  management  of  multiple  sclerosis  symptoms  by  providing individual   physiotherapy   programmes,   massage,   reflexology, dietary/nutritional  information  and  counselling.    Self   help   for people  with  MS  and  their  friends and families is considered an important  aspect of  RAMS  therapy  and so RAMS serves as a friendly  drop-in centre  for sufferers and their carers/families to meet and help each other.

There  is  evidence  to  indicate that  management of  the symptoms experienced by other debilitating  disorders  such as  Cerebral Palsy, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Strokes etc., etc.,  can  be  significantly improved with our programmes of treatment. There is also evidence to show that physical injuries such as, for example,  those obtained in sports can be treated with a marked improvement in rate of recovery.  RAMS , therefore,  has  extended  their series of treatments to  these other neurological disorders and physical injuries.
