About RAMS
Race Against Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS) was founded in 1985 by a group of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) sufferers and their carers.Concerned at the lack of help available to those with MS RAMS Therapy Centre was established in Dunmurry, Belfast, Northern Ireland specifically to provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy and offer support to sufferers and their carers and friends. Apart from therapy treatment, it was considered important to provide a friendly drop-in centre so that sufferers and their carers, families and friends could meet and help each other.
Over the succeeding
years RAMS Therapy Centre has extended their programmes of treatment
to include a more holistic approach to the management
of multiple sclerosis symptoms by
providing individual programmes of: physiotherapy, vibrotherapy,
electromagnetic stimulation therapy, massage, reflexology and advice on diet,
nutrition
and counselling. RAMS has also extended these facilities to sufferers
of: Stroke, Neurological conditions, Cerebral
Palsy, Arthritis, Respiratory Disease
s, Circulatory Disorders,
Fibromyalgia, Wounds, Sports Injuries and Myalgic Encephalopathy.
RAMS
is a registered charity
with two full-time and part-time
members of staff. It is
maintained through donations from the public
and through the organisation of volunteer and
professional staff
